My dear students, it is a thing of great joy and gratitude to God and to your parents/guardians to welcome you to the General Nursing Programme of the College of Nursing Sciences, Mbano, a great citadel of learning – both in character and academics. You are indeed very fortunate, and we are very happy as well to share in your joy. Keep the joys of this day glowing as we shall rejoice and celebrate once again when your programme is completed, and success attained.

Starting out on a new phase of life is not always easy. It needs preparations, persistence, perseverance and consistency if the goal is to be attained. We want to believe that you are prepared to embark on this new chapter of your lives, thereby reminding you that hardwork and dedication to the course of learning will pay off with success at the end of the day. How prepared and determined you are will only be tested and proved by how persistent and persevering you become. So do not take for granted this great and rare opportunity given to you to add value to yourself, your family, and the society in general. The world is waiting to celebrate you as a blessing, or be mocked at as a failure and a disgrace to humanity. Am sure you will prefer the former.

Therefore, I would like to beg you to bring yourself to the hard realization that you are extremely fortunate and lucky to be admitted into this institution for a General Nursing Programme, at the end of which you will be addressed as, and accorded a Registered Nurse certificate, Federal Republic of Nigeria, with a global recognition. We shall soon find out how grateful or ungrateful you are, it won’t take too long! So guide and guard your admission jealously to ensure you achieve your aim. Stay clear of troubles; take your academics and College activities seriously; obey sundry rules and regulations, and you will have less to worry about. Aspire for the stars and the sky will be your starting point; leave no stone unturned; and do not be satisfied with the minimum. Strive for the best, and always be among the best!

Your parents have transferred authority, control and your training over to the Management and staff of the College, and so, I pray you to conduce to the College Rules and Regulations, and make yourself amenable and malleable to changes and corrections for your own peace, happiness and holistic growth. Do not take anything for granted as it would be my privilege to inform you that College of Nursing Sciences, Mbano, upholds the following core values:
